R & E: Prior to the 1800s this species was considered to be a fairly common transient, but even by Widmann's time (1907) it was considered rare. In years when extensive mudflats are few or nonexistent this species may go unrecorded. More frequently encountered in the fall and more expected in western MO.



R & E: The first arrivals usually appear by mid-April and peak during the last ten days of April. Individuals are
occasionally seen until the end of May.
