July 2 - Aug. 28, 2010 - 1st nesting record
(Nesting, 2 adults with a clutch of eggs); Specimen (4 ducklings and 7 eggs preserved and deposited at KUNHM). Napoleon, Lafayette Co.; Lowell Burns (documentation and photographs); 23rd Annual MBRC Report, 2010-71, and BB 78[1]:48-53. The pair built a nest in a Wood Duck box on the property of Lowell Burns. First brought to the committee by Jim Zellmer. 17 eggs were observed on 12 Aug. on 28 Aug. it was discovered that the box contained one dead duckling, 7 hatched eggs, and 6 unhatched eggs (4 ducklings and 7 eggs preserved and deposited at KUNHM). It is not known whether any of the hatchlings survived, but none was subsequently observed.
